Ivy Cottage, 2a Tower Road, Repps with Bastwick, Norfolk NR29 5JW
How to get here: As one turns in to Tower Road, Ivy Cottage has the narrow entrance on the right immediately after Willow Cottage.
Ivy Cottage is located just a few minutes walk from the well-known ‘Potter Heigham Bridge’ on the River Thurne, from where one can hire a boat to get access to this part of the Norfolk Broads. ‘Lathams’ store provides food and much more besides. There is a Tesco store about ten minutes away in Stalham
A short drive takes one to Winterton and other coastal villages, with sandy beaches flanked with dunes. Between November and February, large seal colonies gather along this stretch of coast, as the pups are born.
Dating back to 1810 in the oldest part, Ivy Cottage is cosy with plenty of character. Through the entrance porch is the living room with open fire, and beyond that the kitchen/dining room with inglenook and wood-burning stove. A door from the kitchen leads into the garden, with patio area near the house, lawn, and a well-equipped summer house (and ‘Wendy House’ for youngsters).
The bathroom has a traditional Victorian suite with a roll top bath (it is worth noting that the bath is not very large, and taller guests may need to watch their heads as they move around the beamed cottage). There is no ‘stand-up’ shower at present. Stairs lead to two spacious bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with twin beds.
