Bolton in Appleby, Cumbria

Location

Bolton in Appleby, Cumbria.

How to get there:

Car is the best way to access the property;  alternatively, one  can take a train to Appleby and then a ten-minute taxi ride – there is no bus service to the village.

The property is 11 miles from the M6 and close to the A66.

Local Area

The property is located in the village of Bolton in Appleby, Cumbria. The apartment itself was fully renovated three years ago and is located within an imposing listed building which, in former times, was a boys’ school.

The village has a friendly and cosy pub that does excellent food; the village also has a church that dates back to the 12th century – both are literally a few minutes’ walk from the property. The picturesque River Eden flows close by.

Appleby, the charming county town of Westmorland, is ten minutes away by car and boasts a variety of restaurants, shops, pubs and other amenities. It is famous for the annual Horse Fair which is held every year in June and dates back to 1775. Thirty minutes north is the historic market town of Penrith, whilst Center Parcs Whinfell Forest, is a mere 15 minutes away. Appleby is also a popular stop on the famous Settle-to-Carlisle railway, with the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct 40 minutes south of Appleby by train: one can disembark at Ribblehead station and enjoy a wonderful view of the viaduct from the beer garden at the rear of the Station Inn, surrounded by striking moorland scenery.

Looking further afield, Appleby is ideally situated between three areas of outstanding natural beauty:  The Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales, and The North Pennines. Ullswater, for example, is only 30 minutes away. Nestling on the shore of Derwent Water, the picturesque town of Keswick hosts its world-renowned Convention each summer and is located just 40 minutes from the apartment.

Facilities

The apartment can sleep two to four people and is located on the first floor to the rear of the building. Every window looks out onto trees and, beyond those, open fields. It is modern, bright and spacious and fully equipped with everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

The apartment consists of a double bedroom with the option of converting to a twin room if desired. It has a spacious lounge with a comfortable double sofa bed, and a large kitchen, along with a bathroom.

Unfortunately, disability access/provision is not available since the apartment is on the first floor and there is no lift.
