How to get there:

Rail:  Nearest stations are Reading (24 minutes to London Paddington), Cholsey, Didcot.
Air: The Elizabeth Line and RailAir coach run from Heathrow to Reading.
Service Bus: The X40 River Rapids bus goes from Reading to Oxford every half hour and stops in Wallingford marketplace, two minutes from our front door.
Car: Wallingford is easily accessed from the M40, junction 6, and from the A34 via Didcot

Local Area

Our Victorian Gothic cottage is in the conservation area of Wallingford, two minutes from the Market Place, with a wide choice of coffee shops, restaurants, Waitrose, a theatre/cinema, antiques shops, a bridal shop, hat shop etc., yet a delightfully quiet corner of this historic market town, on a small one-way street.
Service buses are available to Oxford, Henley & Reading.
The cottage is light and airy as south-facing, recently renovated so warm and cosy in winter. We hope you love it as much as we do!
It is on the Thames Path so is ideal for walkers. Boats and kayaks can be hired at Benson Lock, five minutes by car or half an hour’s walk along the Thames Path.  Five minutes’ walk across the river is an outdoor swimming pool (open May-September) and splash park. There is also a mini beach by the bridge for bathing in the Thames.
Three National Trust properties are within half an hour’s drive.
Dorchester Abbey holds regular concerts, as does St Mary’s Church on our doorstep.
Beale Park open air zoo is half an hour’s drive away.

Facilities

We currently still have availability to rent the cottage in March, May, June, July, September and October 2025 (£180 a night, minimum 6 nights). Please contact to check dates.
We also rent the double room at other times (£80 a night).
Cottage rental:
Downstairs: utility room with washing machine, drier and iron; bathroom with shower, toilet and sink unit; study with TV, desk, sofa and easy chair;  kitchen/dining/living space. Kitchen area: oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, Magimix, Nutribullet etc., handcrafted in 2022.  Dining area: large table with eight chairs, extending to ten. Living area: two large duck feather filled sofas, TV.
Upstairs: two double bedrooms (5’ bed and 4’6” bed) and a single room; bathroom with shower, toilet and sink unit.
Walled south facing rear garden with table and chairs.
WiFi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels all included in the price. We leave the kitchen with all our dry food for you to use so no need to bring anything with you, just replace what you finish (Waitrose is three minutes’ walk away).
No baby or children’s equipment (NB stairs to cellar from hall could be hazardous).
Free parking is available in Thames Street or for a small charge in the Baptist Church car park – we are literally 40 paces right of the exit.

Costs

£180 a night (minimum six nights)
10% discount is offered to clergy and paid church staff.

Energy Provision: Charges included in tariff.

Arrival and Departure times:

Arrival after 3.00 pm, departure before 10.00 am preferably – though flexible on this.

No pets or smoking please.
