How to get here: Best access is by car. Nearest train stations Matlock 5 miles, Chesterfield 13 miles, Buxton 13 miles, Sheffield 20 miles. Youlgreave has an hourly bus service to Bakewell which connects to the wider bus network.

Local Area
Youlgreave has a village shop and a Post Office open every day selling a wide range of provisions, a bakery selling snacks and ready meals and 3 pubs serving food all within 5 minutes walk from the cottage. Bakewell is a centre for the Peak District National Park and has a wide range of shops including a supermarket, a tourist information bureau and famous Monday market.
Located in the heart of the Peak Park, Youlgreave is an ideal centre for exploring the Derbyshire Dales on foot or by car. There are many footpaths from Youlgreave itself; Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale offer easy but beautiful walking nearby; Dove Dale, Monsal Dale and others are a short car ride away.
For cyclists, there is a network of cycle trails on disused railway lines with several cycle hire points.
The historic houses and gardens of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are nearby, with Sudbury, Hardwick, Kedleston and others a little further off.
In easy range are the many attractions of the Matlock area, rich in industrial history; the Crich Tramway Museum; the plague village of Eyam; Castleton with its show caverns; and Buxton with its elegant spa and gardens. Alton Towers theme park is within easy driving distance.
Facilities
Hopton Cottage is on the main street near the centre of Youlgreave village, set well back from the road. It is over 250 years old with stone mullions and leaded lights and has a modern kitchen and bathroom and gas central heating throughout. The cottage sleeps 5/6 people.
Entrance is through a small porch into a large kitchen/dining room. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The cosy living room has a log fire, TV and DVD player.
The bathroom with bath and shower is also downstairs.
Upstairs are 4 bedrooms, 3 having beautiful views over Bradford Dale. They are a double, a twin (with zip-link beds that convert to a king size), and a single. The 4th bedroom has a zed-bed and is more suitable for a young person due to limited headroom. A travel cot and a high chair are available.
WiFi is included. Bed linen and towels are provided.
For families there are games, puzzles and books to suit all ages.
There is a large south facing garden at the front of the house with garden furniture and off street parking by the front gate.

Costs 2024-25
Weekly rates from £450 per week in winter to £575 per week in summer.
Short breaks and weekends are possible, please ask for prices.
Energy Provision: Energy costs are included in the charges
Availability
We are available all year round and have the Visit England ‘We’re Good To Go’ certificate showing that we comply with Government and Public Health England Covid secure guidelines.
Arrival and Departure times: Arrival from 4.00 pm. Departure by 10.00 am.
Booking Arrangements: Saturday changeover for weekly bookings in summer. Short breaks, weekends, flexible dates available the rest of the year.
Pets: No pets please
