Lily’s Cottage is in peaceful Minster-On-Sea, Isle of Sheppey, Kent, close to a blue flag beach. Escape to the seaside (no TV/WiFi) for a relaxing holiday.
How to get there:
Lily’s Cottage is 45 minutes by car from the M25 junction 2, 20 minutes by car from M2 junction 5,
3.5 miles to Sheerness-on-Sea railway station, taxi or buses available to the cottage.

Sheerness (10 minutes), Leysdown (20 mins) Sittingbourne (20 mins) Canterbury (40 mins)
Local Area
The Co-operative Local supermarket, Abbey Cake Shop, (café with homemade cakes,) post office, Fish and Chips and Chinese takeaways are just 3 minutes’ walk away. Handy!
There is a Tesco Extra in Sheerness and a very large Morrisions, as well as Starbucks, Creams, Burger King at a retail park, all 10 minutes’ drive away.
For fine dining The Ferry Inn in Harty is a AA Rosette restaurant and bar with beautiful coastal views and is famous for its family farmed beef, whilst in Halfway Mem’s Mezze is an excellent Turkish restaurant.
Leisure Attractions – beaches, countryside, parks, etc
- An enjoyable walk through a field to the end of the long promenade at The Leas, a blue flag shingle beach, or 3 minutes by car with free parking. Paddleboard hire, Sweet Hut, Little Oyster café, two pubs, outdoor gym equipment, coastal path.
- 5 minutes’ walk to Grade 1 listed Minster Abbey (664AD) with the interesting Gatehouse Musuem alongside.
- On the island: Elmey Nature Reserve with birdwatching hides, Barton’s point coastal park lake/café/playground, Leysdown for sandy beach and amusement arcades, Jetstream Tours ferry day trips Queenborough to Southend/around island.
- Off the island: Leeds Castle, The Historic Dockyard at Chatham, Diggerland, cathedral city of Canterbury, The Light Sittingbourne cinema and bowling.
Facilities
Lily’s cottage is a comfortable detached house (built 2015) in Minster-on-Sea sleeping 6-8 in 3 bedrooms.
- Spacious lounge diner (with a double sofa bed) and a partial sea view
- Fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, fridge, freezer, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle, electric oven, gas hob, cooking equipment and crockery.
- Downstairs bedroom with twin beds, downstairs WC
- Upstairs two bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with bunk beds and a small double sofa bed, and a bathroom with shower over the bath,
- Outside is a garden laid to lawn to the rear with a field and sea view and parking for two cars on the driveway to the front.
- Children very welcome, highchair and travel cot provided and a large bookcase with many games, jigsaws and books
- Duvets and pillows provided but please bring your own bed linen and towels, these are NOT provided
- There is no TV or WiFi at the property however most mobile phone networks have good reception and mobile data 4G, and it is possible to use a mobile hotspot to connect a laptop to the internet.

Costs
£100 per night, £550 per week, bed linen not included, please leave clean and tidy
10% discount is available for households whose main income comes from full-time Christian work: additional discounts are available for longer stays and low season bookings.
Energy Provision:
Reasonable use of gas, electricity and water is included.
Availability
Available all year round.
Arrival and Departure times:
Very flexible, key collection at mutually convenient location by arrangement
Booking arrangements:
Any start day and any length of stay. Availability and booking enquiries by email and phone, confirmed on receipt of 10% of the fee. Remaining 90% to be paid one month in advance.
Pets:
Well-behaved pet by agreement downstairs only
