The Smithy is conveniently located for lots of beautiful places. Not too far away are: Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills (25 min drive), the charming City of Wells (less than 20 mins drive) Glastonbury (30 mins drive), Bath (30 mins drive) and Bristol (45 mins drive)

Local Area

There are a number of country pubs and restaurants a short drive away. The nearest supermarket is a 10-minute drive.

There are opportunities to walk straight into the countryside from the door, but there is also plenty to explore further afield, including:

Wells Cathedral

Wookey Hole Caves

Cheddar Gorge

Mendip Hills

Glastonbury Tor

The Roman Baths

Bristol Harbour

There are also several National Trust properties within a 45-minute radius.

Facilities

Part of a lovely, centuries old home, with guest accommodation set back from the road. Come and stay for a retreat or just to explore our beautiful bit of Somerset.

The accommodation is suitable for up to two people. Available is one large double ensuite bedroom, with a private lounge, complete with wood burner for those wintery nights, board games, books and tea and coffee making facilities.

We are a hospitable family and love to meet new people. Whether you would like to say hello or simply have retreat time by yourself, you are most welcome.

Accommodation would suit 1-2 people. Parking on the drive is available for one car.

Please note:

The accommodation available is part of a larger family home, with a separate entrance. Please be aware that there is a big (very friendly) dog in the home.

All bedding and towels provided.

Free Wifi, but no television.

Due to the age and nature of the house, unfortunately, this accommodation would not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Initial basket of logs for wood burner provided free of charge, £5 per basket thereafter.

The accommodation does NOT have its own kitchen. However, if you would like to use the family kitchen or have meals provided, please contact the host directly.
