Location

Torridge House, Little Torrington, Devon EX38 8PS

Nearest Town: Torrington

Local Area

Torridge House Cottages, where there’s always something to do and where you’re not far away from other activities and action. Good food, sandy beaches, surfing, cycling, great family attractions like The Big Sheep and The Milky Way. Wonderful gardens, RHS Rosemoor is very close by, as is the Tarka Trail. Dartington Crystal is 2 miles. In the village you can play skittles in the village hall and arrange a marvellous therapy session with Marina. There’s lots to discover also in wildlife reserves, woodlands, commons, moors and coastline. North Devon is a landscape of single-track roads, hedgerows, fabulous views, quaint fishing villages, market towns, country pubs, beautiful gardens and excellent family attractions.

Lidl and Co-op in Torrington as well as independent shops, cafes pubs and tea rooms offering good food, 2 miles.
Morrisons a short 20 mins drive away in Bideford.

We are on the edge of the tiny village of Little Torrington overlooking the delightful RHS Rosemoor Gardens. Because the grounds and eight of the nine cottages are surrounded by fields and private woodland to which there is no public access, the cottages are in a very private setting.

Many well-known novels are set in this part of Devon including Tarka the Otter, Westward Ho!, Ann Cleeves’ detective series, Simon, The Secret of Crickley Hall and of course War Horse. This is indeed War Horse Country and the site of the 1646 Civil War battle of Torrington.

Tiny Little Torrington is a timeless rural hideaway.  eight miles south of Bideford, 20 minutes from the beaches of Westward Ho! and Instow and some 30 minutes from Dartmoor. The historic town of Great Torrington and home of Dartington Crystal is two miles away.

Sandy beaches, cycling, walks, fishing, surfing, fascinating history, forests, gardens, nature reserves, market towns, family attractions are all in easy reach. With Jax’s Tarka Pottery with potters’ wheel, Marina’s therapies and village hall skittles all in our little village.

The eight cottages are in a delightful wide-open park-like garden setting with panoramic views over rolling countryside and wooded valleys.
