Torridge House Cottages, where there’s always something to do and where you’re not far away from other activities and action. Good food, sandy beaches, surfing, cycling, great family attractions like The Big Sheep and The Milky Way. Wonderful gardens, RHS Rosemoor is very close by, as is the Tarka Trail. Dartington Crystal is 2 miles. In the village you can play skittles in the village hall and arrange a marvellous therapy session with Marina. There’s lots to discover also in wildlife reserves, woodlands, commons, moors and coastline. North Devon is a landscape of single-track roads, hedgerows, fabulous views, quaint fishing villages, market towns, country pubs, beautiful gardens and excellent family attractions.
Lidl and Co-op in Torrington as well as independent shops, cafes pubs and tea rooms offering good food, 2 miles.
Morrisons a short 20 mins drive away in Bideford.
We are on the edge of the tiny village of Little Torrington overlooking the delightful RHS Rosemoor Gardens. Because the grounds and eight of the nine cottages are surrounded by fields and private woodland to which there is no public access, the cottages are in a very private setting.
Many well-known novels are set in this part of Devon including Tarka the Otter, Westward Ho!, Ann Cleeves’ detective series, Simon, The Secret of Crickley Hall and of course War Horse. This is indeed War Horse Country and the site of the 1646 Civil War battle of Torrington.
Tiny Little Torrington is a timeless rural hideaway. eight miles south of Bideford, 20 minutes from the beaches of Westward Ho! and Instow and some 30 minutes from Dartmoor. The historic town of Great Torrington and home of Dartington Crystal is two miles away.
Sandy beaches, cycling, walks, fishing, surfing, fascinating history, forests, gardens, nature reserves, market towns, family attractions are all in easy reach. With Jax’s Tarka Pottery with potters’ wheel, Marina’s therapies and village hall skittles all in our little village.
Facilities
Good fast wifi freely available in all cottages.
Beds are made up ready for your arrival and bath and hand towels are provided.
Some cottages have downstairs bedrooms and walk in showers. Cottages either have king or super king beds, dishwashers and freezers. All cottages have smart TVs. Six also have washing machines and tumble driers, and three have log burners.
Dogs are welcome by arrangement.
Children are especially well provided for.
The eight cottages are in a delightful wide-open park-like garden setting with panoramic views over rolling countryside and wooded valleys.
At Torridge House Cottages there is plenty of privacy as well as being a great situation for engaging with other people. A games room, a comfy quiet room which can be used as a private office, an indoor toddler playroom, outdoor toddler toys, April to end October pet animals to cuddle and care for, pigs and chickens to help feed and towards end of May to mid-September a heated outdoor seasonal swimming pool.

One dog accepted in Duck, Hen and Stag cottages, if you are happy that the doors open straight out to open plan gardens with free ranging chickens.
