This single chalet sleeps up to six across a double and twin room, with an open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen downstairs, a comfortable, unfussy base for exploring the wider Christian holidays in Wales. Guests arrive to find seven box files of local leaflets already sorted by theme, history, walks, crafts, family days out, reflecting years of local knowledge built up by the family who’ve welcomed HolyHols guests here since 2018.
A short stretch along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path leads to Barafundle Bay, regularly ranked among the most beautiful beaches in Britain: a curve of golden sand backed by dunes and woodland, reached only on foot via Stackpole Quay. It sits within the National Trust’s Stackpole Estate, alongside the Bosherston Lily Ponds, a haven for otters, dragonflies and wildfowl. Closer still, Freshwater East’s own beach and dunes are barely a couple of minutes’ walk from the chalet, a rare combination of an easy family beach on the doorstep and one of the country’s most celebrated stretches of sand within a short, scenic walk along the cliffs.
History runs deep in this corner of Pembrokeshire. Pembroke Castle, four miles off, was the birthplace in 1457 of Henry Tudor, later King Henry VII, born to the 13-year-old Margaret Beaufort and raised beneath the very walls that would found the Tudor dynasty after the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. Beneath the castle lies the Wogan, a natural limestone cavern used since prehistoric times; Pembroke is the only castle in Britain built directly over one. The town itself still carries the Tudor Rose as its emblem, and the castle remains one of the best-preserved in Wales, with plenty to hold a family’s attention for a full day out.
Two miles the other way, Lamphey was once a country retreat for the Bishops of St Davids, built largely by Bishop Henry de Gower in the 1330s, the same bishop responsible for much of St Davids’ own Bishop’s Palace. Its ruined great hall, fishponds and grounds, now cared for by Cadw, are free to explore and rarely busy. Nearby Manorbier Castle was the birthplace of the medieval clergyman and chronicler Gerald of Wales, who called it simply ‘the pleasantest spot in Wales’, a description that, standing on its clifftop above the beach, still feels entirely fair some eight centuries later.

We have one chalet on a village of holiday homes. The whole village is on one side of a valley. Our chalet is up on an embankment and not overlooked.
From the front windows you can see the beach and the sea 250yds away.
Parking is in numbered bays about 30yds away, which you pass on the way to the beach
The chalet will sleep up to 6 people.
Upstairs – 1 Double Room, 1 Twin Room, 1 Shower Room with Toilet.
Downstairs – One through room Lounge / Dining Room / Kitchen, with a comfortable Sofa Bed forming the split of Lounge & Dining Room.
The Lounge contains 3 Armchairs, a Smart TV together with a DVD player. There is Wifi in the chalet.
The Dining Room has a set of pigeon holes with plenty of Books & Games for all ages. There is space in the pigeon holes for you to store some of your own belongings
The Kitchen is well equipped for 6 people. There is a double Oven & Grill, Microwave, Domestic Fridge with Icebox.
We provide a duvet for the double bed and blankets for the other beds. You will need to bring Sheets, Pillowcases, Towels & Teatowels.
