Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the HolyHols.co.uk website. By using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website.
These Terms apply to all users of HolyHols.co.uk, including property owners who advertise their accommodation through our directory, and visitors who use the website to find holiday accommodation.
1. Who We Are
HolyHols.co.uk is a Christian holiday property listing directory, connecting Christian families, clergy, and church workers with holiday accommodation offered by fellow Christians. The website is owned and managed by:
- Name: Steve Milsom
- Website: www.holyhols.co.uk
- Email: [email protected]
In these Terms, “HolyHols”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to HolyHols.co.uk, owned and operated by Steve Milsom. “You” refers to the person using our website, whether as a property owner, a visitor seeking accommodation, or both.
2. About Our Service
HolyHols.co.uk is a listing directory only. We provide a platform for Christian property owners to advertise their holiday accommodation to the Christian community. We are not a booking platform, a travel agent, or a party to any agreement between a property owner and a guest.
This means:
- All bookings, enquiries, availability, pricing, and arrangements are agreed directly between the guest and the property owner.
- We do not take or process booking payments on behalf of property owners.
- We do not vet, inspect, or endorse any individual property listed on our website.
- We are not responsible for any aspect of the stay itself, including but not limited to the condition of the property, cancellations, disputes, or refunds.
If you have a concern about a property or a booking, this must be raised directly with the property owner concerned.
3. Terms for Property Owners and Subscribers
This section applies to anyone who applies to list a property on HolyHols.co.uk and/or who holds a current paid subscription with us.
3.1 Eligibility
HolyHols exists to serve the Christian community, and we ask that those who list properties on our directory share this ethos. While we do not require formal proof of faith or church membership, we do ask that property owners:
- Are themselves Christians, or that the property is offered in the spirit of Christian hospitality;
- Are willing to welcome guests from across the Christian community, regardless of denomination; and
- Ensure their property and how it is managed reflects the values of warmth, honesty, and care for others.
We reserve the right to decline or remove any listing that we believe is not in keeping with the ethos of HolyHols, at our sole discretion.
3.2 Applying to List
To advertise your property on HolyHols.co.uk, you must complete our online application form and pay the annual subscription fee. By submitting an application, you confirm that:
- All information you provide is accurate, complete, and not misleading;
- You are the legal owner or authorised manager of the property;
- The property complies with all applicable UK laws and regulations, including those relating to health and safety, fire safety, gas and electrical safety, and any local authority licensing requirements;
- You have any necessary permissions to let the property, including, where relevant, mortgage lender or freeholder consent;
- You hold appropriate insurance for holiday letting purposes.
We reserve the right to accept or decline any application at our discretion. Submission of an application does not guarantee publication.
3.3 Listing Content and Accuracy
You are responsible for the content of your listing, including all descriptions, photographs, pricing information, and contact details. You agree to:
- Ensure all listing information is accurate and kept up to date;
- Update us promptly if your contact details, pricing, or property details change;
- Only use photographs that you own or have the legal right to use;
- Not include any content that is false, misleading, offensive, or in breach of any law.
We reserve the right to edit, remove, or decline to publish any listing content that we consider inaccurate, inappropriate, or contrary to these Terms.
3.4 Subscription Fees and Payment
Access to the HolyHols directory is provided on the basis of an annual subscription. The current subscription fee is published on our website and communicated at the point of application or renewal.
- Subscriptions are paid annually in advance.
- Payment must be made in full before your listing is published or renewed.
- We currently accept payment via Stripe (online card payment) or by bank transfer. Details will be provided at the point of payment.
- Subscription fees are non-refundable except in the circumstances described in Section 3.5 below.
3.5 Renewal and Cancellation
Subscriptions are for a fixed twelve-month period. They do not renew automatically — we will contact you in advance of your renewal date to invite you to continue your listing for the following year.
If you choose not to renew, your listing will be removed from the website at the end of your subscription period.
If you wish to cancel your subscription before the end of the period for which you have paid, please contact us at [email protected]. We will remove your listing promptly on request. However, please note that subscription fees are non-refundable for the period already paid, except at our discretion or where we have made a material error.
3.6 Removal of Listings
We reserve the right to suspend or remove any listing at any time, without notice, if we have reason to believe that:
- The listing contains false or misleading information;
- The property owner is in breach of these Terms;
- The property is being offered in a way that is harmful, unlawful, or contrary to the ethos of HolyHols;
- We have received a credible complaint from a guest or other party.
Where a listing is removed by us for cause, we will endeavour to notify the property owner by email. Refunds will not be issued where removal is due to a breach of these Terms.
3.7 Your Responsibilities as a Host
You are solely responsible for all aspects of your property and its letting, including:
- Complying with all relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements;
- The accuracy of information provided to guests;
- Handling all bookings, payments, cancellations, and disputes directly with guests;
- Ensuring your property is safe, clean, and as described in your listing;
- Maintaining adequate insurance for holiday letting purposes.
HolyHols accepts no liability for any loss, damage, injury, dispute, or disappointment arising from a stay at a listed property, or from any arrangement between you and a guest.
4. Terms for Guests and Visitors
This section applies to anyone who visits HolyHols.co.uk to search for or enquire about holiday accommodation.
4.1 Using the Directory
Our website is provided as a free resource to help you find holiday accommodation within the Christian community. You may browse listings and contact property owners directly, free of charge.
When you contact a property owner through details found on HolyHols.co.uk, you are communicating with them directly. HolyHols is not a party to that communication or to any subsequent booking.
4.2 Bookings and Arrangements
Any booking you make through a contact found on HolyHols.co.uk is an agreement made entirely between you and the property owner. We strongly encourage you to:
- Confirm all details — including price, dates, availability, facilities, and cancellation terms — directly with the property owner before making any payment;
- Keep a written record of any booking agreement;
- Check what cancellation and refund arrangements apply before paying a deposit or full balance.
4.3 Our Liability to Guests
HolyHols does not inspect properties, verify listings, or guarantee the accuracy of any information provided by property owners. We are not responsible for:
- The quality, safety, or condition of any listed property;
- Any inaccuracy in a property description;
- Any cancellation, dispute, or loss arising from a booking;
- Any financial loss arising from payments made to a property owner.
If you have a dispute with a property owner, this must be resolved directly between you and them. We are unable to intervene in individual booking disputes, though we would always welcome your feedback if you have concerns about a listing.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on HolyHols.co.uk that is created by us — including website design, text, logos, and graphics — is owned by or licensed to HolyHols.co.uk and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any such content without our prior written permission.
Property owners retain ownership of the descriptions, photographs, and other content they provide for their listings. By submitting content for publication on our website, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and reproduce that content on HolyHols.co.uk and in our marketing materials for as long as your listing is active.
6. Website Use
You agree to use our website lawfully and in good faith. You must not:
- Use the website in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website or its systems;
- Use the website to send unsolicited communications or spam;
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the website without our permission;
- Post or transmit any content that is defamatory, offensive, or in breach of any third party’s rights.
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the website for any user who we believe is in breach of these conditions.
7. Limitation of Liability
We take care to ensure our website is accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee this at all times. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We accept no liability for any inaccuracy in, or unavailability of, the HolyHols website;
- We accept no liability for any indirect, consequential, or financial loss arising from your use of the website or from any listing contained within it;
- Our total liability to any person in connection with these Terms, to the extent not excluded by law, shall not exceed the subscription fee paid by that person in the twelve months preceding the relevant claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
8. Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy matters to us. How we collect, use, and protect your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of our overall terms of use. Please read it alongside these Terms.
